Mental health, especially among vulnerable populations, is a battle many feel alone in. We are here to change that.
What We Do
VIP Clinic |
Mental Health Activities Center (MHAC) |
The Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is the leader in building sustainable and innovative support programs that continuously raise the quality of care for victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. VIP has become a model for how similar programs across the country work with vulnerable populations by shifting the focus from intervention to prevention and breaking the cycle of violence. As the largest child abuse clinic in the country, VIP cares for over 19,000 victims of abuse and neglect each year and is the only 24/7 child abuse clinic in Los Angeles County.
Special ProjectsThere are multiple in-person and virtual projects we will be focusing on during these isolated times. Including events like the recent back-to-school donation drive, we are also planning to create a program teaching all of the VIP families about topics like 3D modeling and meditation.

At the Mental Health Activities Center, we work with children of all ages through elementary school to high school. Our main job is to just hang out with them through games, crafts, and sports and participate with them in activities that are conducive to improving their mental health. Volunteering at the MHAC is an incredible experience, and it takes place at the Taper Center whose location is shown on the map below.
Virtual Tutoring and MentorshipOur current focus lies around tutoring and mentoring the children who come by the VIP program, whether as patients or as part of the families needing assistance. This requires sensitivity in both their academic and mental needs, a mix which can be complicated but also immensely rewarding.
